Particle size and shape analysis of suspensions and emulsions from 0.5 µm to 3,500 µm for fast measurement cycles with minimal operator effort
The QUIXEL/S wet dispersion unit, in combination with the QICPIC image analysis sensor, enables fast and reproducible characterisation of suspensions and emulsions across a wide particle size range from 0.5 µm to 3,500 µm. The liquid circulation system with a centrifugal pump and adjustable ultrasound ensures reliable dispersion and homogeneous mixing of the sample, even for coarser or high-density particles.
For dynamic image analysis, four optical measurement ranges from XS to L are available to suit different measurement requirements. QICPIC captures individual particles within the measurement zone and provides information on both particle size and particle shape. This enables detailed evaluation of particle size distributions and the morphological properties of the sample.
Flexible adaptation to different samples and measurement requirements
The analysis volume can be adjusted between 350 ml and 1,000 ml to suit the respective application. Stainless-steel flow cuvettes with optical path lengths of 2 mm and 6 mm allow flexible adaptation to different concentrations and particle properties. FKM and FFKM seals provide the required chemical resistance to the product and dispersion liquid. An optional internal heater and a lid with automatic additive dosing further extend the application range of the QUIXEL/S.
Intuitive operation and convenient sample handling
All measurement and dispersion parameters are controlled via the software and can be saved and recalled as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recurring analyses. Filling and draining are performed automatically using integrated level sensors. Pump speed, ultrasound intensity and temperature can also be precisely set and reproduced. For maximum flexibility, all functions can additionally be controlled manually via the operating panel. The current optical concentration is displayed on the operating panel, supporting controlled sample addition.
For standardised and automated laboratory workflows
The combination of QICPIC and QUIXEL/S is suitable both for routine measurements in quality control and R&D laboratories and for automated laboratory workflows. Predefined measurement methods support operator-independent analyses and ensure consistent measurement procedures even when working with different samples.
The modular concept of the QICPIC image analysis sensors allows this configuration to be systematically expanded with numerous dispersion units and dosing options, thereby opening it up to many more product-appropriate measuring applications.
