High-speed image analysis with powerful dispersion for dry, even cohesive powders, fibres and granules ranging from 1.8 µm to over 4,000 µm

Together with the powerful and fully-automated dry dispersion unit RODOS/L, the image analysis sensor QICPIC offers fast and repeatable analysis of particle size and particle shape for dry, fine to coarse-grained products from 1.8 µm to 4,000 µm. In addition, a fibre characterisation is also possible for fibre lengths significantly in excess of 4,000 µm. Even cohesive powders, intertwined fibres or agglomerating granulates are reliably dispersed and characterised.

With the finely adjustable pressure ratios in RODOS, the energy input for dispersion is optimally adjusted to the product. No other dispersion method gets even close to this level of performance. The speed, reproducibility, comparability and the high statistical confidence with large sample volumes are particularly prominent. The dosing of the powder sample is performed by means of the precision vibratory feeder VIBRI/L, which guarantees optimum optical concentration of the sample in the measuring zone with a consistent, controlled product supply. The perfectly separated particles in the free aerosol jet are frozen in their movement with an exposure time of less than a nanosecond and recorded with a frequency of up to 500 frames per second. The subsequent evaluation returns all relevant size and shape characteristics, and the results can be presented both as a distribution and individually for each individual particle.

All measurement and dispersion parameters are adjusted in the software and can be saved as retrievable measuring methods (Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)). In this way, measurements are reliable and independent of the operator, even if the product and application are changed frequently. Feed rate, dispersion energy and the trigger for the measurement can be reproduced accurately and fully automatically.

  • Particle size, particle shape, fibre characterisation
  • For dry, fine to coarse-grained, cohesive powders, fibres and granules
  • For laboratory analyses
  • Sample amount per analysis < 1 g to 1,000 g
  • 4 high-resolution measuring ranges from 1.8 µm to over 4,000 µm | M5 to M8
  • High-speed camera with up to 500 frames per second
  • Highest statistical certainty with short measuring times
  • Upgradable to OASIS combined dry and wet dispersion system

The modular concept of the QICPIC image analysis sensors allows this configuration to be systematically expanded with numerous dispersion units and dosing options to open up many more measuring applications. If frequent changes between dry and wet dispersion are required then the RODOS/L is optionally available with the proven wet dispersion unit SUCELL/L as a combined dry and wet dispersion unit OASIS/L.
