Fully-automated wet dispersion for disperse systems with complex mixtures
MIXCEL is an universal wet dispersing unit specially designed for the use in combination with the high speed dynamic image analyser QICPIC. It covers a wide size range from 1 µm to 3,000 µm for variable sample volumes from 400 ml to 1,000 ml in a closed -loop set-up. This applies the same way to disperse systems of complex mixtures, broad distributions or particles of high density with high viscous or organic dispersion liquids.
The combination of a stainless steel basin with two highly efficient mixing agitators, a powerful circular pump directly located underneath the basin, a family of flow optimised cuvettes and short PTFE connecting hoses allow for the precise measurement of size, shape and quantity per class. The benefit of this set-up becomes visible especially for samples with wide size distribution, and for materials with high density particles such as metal powders.
The powerful pump guarantees sufficient flow rates within the cuvettes for gap width up to 30 µm and high viscosity fluids. The sonication of the basin is adjustable from 0 to 60 W and supports the dispersion of the sample. The piezo activator is driven by a perfect sinusoidal voltage reducing the thermal losses and thus the annealing of the fluid to a minimum. The sonication is regulated to constant output power for the best reproducible dispersion under all filling levels and conditions.
For temperature sensitive samples an integrated double wall liquid heat exchanger allows for cooling or heating in combination with an external thermostatic unit. An RS232C interface for remote temperature setting is provided. Security functions such as glass cover with “cover closed” sensor and an overflow of the basin are provided.
- For the adaptation to the depth of field of the different QICPIC measuring ranges a family of cuvettes is provided together with a wireless RFID identification of the cuvette type.
- For special applications, different sets of gaskets are available (EPDM, FKM, FFKM). Cuvette release and insertion is motor driven to simplify handling.
