Principle

The results of particle size analyses of the same material by different methods, for example, sieving, sedimentation, or laser diffraction, usually differ from each other if the particle shape is not ideally spherical. This is not a surprise, because every measuring method uses different physical phenomena (sedimentation velocity, sieve mesh width, diffraction pattern) for the analysis of the particle size.

The term, revalidation, in this context means to convert particle size results measured by one method into those corresponding to another method. The WINDOX REvalidation MOdule (REMO) has been designed to convert the particle size measured by HELOS laser diffraction into any corresponding result, based on parallel measurements of the material(s) of interest. This helps users of traditionally established particle sizing methods (e.g. sieve analysis) to migrate to laser diffraction while keeping their existing limits of quality control.

REMO Technical Specifications

sensors:

laser diffraction HELOS / MYTOS
data handling: shift of particle size after evaluation re-interpolation to standardised HELOS size classes
operation: option to enable or disable,
import of REMO conversion factors,
selection of a set of conversion factors
a record of REMO factors must be provided for every material, based on parallel measurements
quality control: not recommended for validated applications (e.g. Pharmaceutical Industry)
