In cases where the ultrasonic extinction based OPUS system cannot be applied for technical or validation reasons, SAFIR is the laser diffraction alternative technology for on-line particle size analysis of  concentrated suspension or stable emulsions. Combining the HELOS laser diffraction sensor (MAGIC as an option) and an open loop flow cuvette from SUCELL mounted into an IP54 housing, SAFIR is designed for process environment.

SAFIR can be adapted to one or more existing sampling points or operated as a stand alone unit fed manually.

Equipped with a sample reservoir providing auto-dilution, stirring of the sample and powerful ultrasonic dispersion, the product is prepared for the laser diffraction analysis by HELOS. Of course, the particulate product should not be affected by dilution effects. If this should be the case OPUS, which allows undiluted measurements, is to be preferred.

All measuring processes inside SAFIR are controlled by software and a powerful PLC which also connects the unit to your process control system. After completing the analysis SAFIR is drained by a centrifugal pump, flushed and ready for the next analysis. Successful installations from  mining to chemical industries prove the ruggedness of SAFIR.
