Devices for spray applications complete the large variety of dispersing systems. SPRAYER and INHALER for pump sprays, propellant gas sprays, and inhalers, open completely new applications for the characterisation of pharmaceutical sprays and inhalation drugs. Applications with extremely low optical concentrations and a duration of only milliseconds are now accessible due to improvements in the sensitivity of the sensor and the availability of powerful trigger algorithms.

The SPRAYER is a versatile adapter of pump sprays or propellant gas sprays to the HELOS sensor for the measurement of particle and droplet size distributions. As the results are usually depending on a variety of parameters, e.g. the force or the time behaviour driving the spraying process, the distance to the measuring volume, the orientation of the spraying direction with respect to the direction of the gravity of earth, etc., the spraying process has to be performed under controlled conditions:
The measurement can be performed by the WINDOX software with integrating over the complete process, separating it in thee time intervals (FDA compliant) or time resolved with definable resolution. |

Troughput and inclination angle (for nebulizers) are controlled by software. Ambient temperature, humidity, air pressure etc. are recorded. As with the SPRAYER the WINDOX software allows for integrated or time resolved measurements. |
